Mrs. Mary Lou (Critton) Bentley, born on February 11, 1921 in Aurora, to the late Annabel Lee (Blee) Critton and the late Homer D. Critton, passed away at age 97 on July 11, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She graduated from West High School and attended the University of Illinois, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Mary Lou was the beloved wife of the late Floyd Bentley and with him started and became president of The Bentley Travel Agency.

She was an active board member of the United Way, a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Business and Professional Women's Club, Zonta, the Rotary Club and Women in Management. Mary Lou was also honored as a recipient of the prestigious Charlotte Danstrom Women of Achievement Award. But way more than all that, she was a talented writer, musician, and a woman of incomparable character and wit. She dearly loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know her.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Annabel Lee Bentley and Betsy Christopher. Mary Lou is survived by her son, William Bentley and wife Penny; brother, Robert D. Critton; and grandchildren: Pat Bentley and wife Mary, Brian Bentley, Conor Bentley and wife Mary Ann, Emily Christopher, Madeline Christopher, and Son-in-Law John Christopher.
