Thaddeus J. “Ted” Stobbe, 70, of Grand Island, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019, at home, with his family by his side.

Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Rev. James Golka will be officiating. Burial of ashes will be in the WestLawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army and the Grand Island Veterans Honor Guard.

Ted was born on June 26, 1948, at Ashton, to Eldon and Lillian (Peters) Stobbe. He grew up in Grand Island. On April 23, 1971, he was united in marriage to Cindy Capellen. Following in his father’s footsteps, Ted was a brick layer all of his working years for various companies.

He entered the United States Army on April 17, 1968, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 31, 1970.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral. He enjoyed playing cards, collecting coins, puzzles and woodworking. Ted loved to watch western movies, spend times with his dogs and visit with family.

Ted is survived by a son, Kevin Stobbe, and Nikki Benzel of Grand Island; daughters and sons-in-laws, Danielle and Chris Daake of Grand Island and Tonya and Jeff Schwieger of Grand Island; a brother and sister-in-law, Don and Pat Stobbe of Kansas City; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Stobbe of Grand Island; two sisters and brothers-in-laws, Shelia and Bob Krolikowski of Grand Island and Roxie and Jason Zoucha of Grand Island; 10 grandchildren, Anastacia, Victor, Samantha, Bo, Shayla, Jaden, Austin, Jaron, Emily, Aaden; and two great-grandsons, Porter and Brigham.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy; his son, Kemper; his parents; and four brothers, John, Joseph, Gary and Allan.
