Christopher Anthony Abbruzzese, “Chris”, of Sewell (Washington Township), NJ, passed away on November 15, 2018 at the age of 36. Chris was born in Stratford, NJ on October 31, 1982. He grew up in Washington Township and was in the WTHS graduating class of 2000. Chris was a member of the Marching Band drumline and one of his fondest memories was playing in the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California.
Chris was raised in the church and grew up loving the Lord. He played drums in the church youth group band and attended Youth Group and Royal Rangers regularly. He also enjoyed attending church summer camps where lifelong memories were made. He was always smiling and putting a smile on other’s faces.
Christopher is a beloved son. He was a self-proclaimed “Momma’s Boy” and was as gifted as his father. Chris loved to watch sports with his dad and cook with his mom. Over the years, he found any excuse to spend more time with his family. He was bright like his father and affectionate like his mother. He understood that family was a very precious gift from the Lord.
Growing up, Chris was a protective big brother who found such laughter in giving his two sisters a good prank. His sisters loved him and the time they would spend with him. Christopher was a father who adored his four children. It gave him such joy to listen to the kids as they shared their hearts with him and in turn, for him to share those memories with others. His kids were his greatest blessing from the Lord.
Chris was an enthusiastic Eagles fan. He enjoyed playing golf, street hockey, and had a gift for cooking. Especially when it came to his Nana’s recipes, as she would always make his favorites. Chris also enjoyed the many lessons in the Lord that his Pop Pop would share with him. Most of all, he loved his Pop Pop’s gentle spirit. Chris cherished all the wisdom and blessings that his Aunt Sharon and Uncle Chris bestowed upon him. Chris treasured the loving memories and heartfelt talks he shared with his Aunt Jacqueline and Uncle Tom. Chris felt and enormous amount of love and support from them.
Chris had a God given gift for working with his hands. He owned and operated his own home remodeling business. He was the kind of person who could look at what needed to be done, figure out how to do it, and then make sure it was done with precision.
Chris is the cherished son of Steve and Josie Abbruzzese (nee Aviles) of Sewell, (Washington Twp.). He is the devoted father of Seraphina (11), Samantha (10), Gianna (8), and Anthony (6). The loving brother of Jennifer Edwards (Michael) of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, and Jessica Cruz (Fredy) of Turnersville, NJ.
He is also survived by: his beloved paternal grandparents Anthony and Esther Abbruzzese of Sewell, NJ; his loving grandmother Belma Aviles (the late Joseph) of Collingswood, NJ; his loving aunts and uncles; Jacqueline Hutchison (Tom) of Washington Twp., Sharon Lambert (Chris) of Sewell, NJ, Debra Abbruzzese of Berlin, NJ, Joseph Aviles (Tonya) of Albany, NY, and Michele Mayhew(Mark) of Chatsworth, PA; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
