Michael Jonathon Alan "Frenchie" French, assistant engineer for the City of Charleston Fire Department, entered into God's Wondrous Kingdom June 18 while in the line of duty.

He was a son of Michael Moore Gragg and Diane Tarrance French.

"Frenchie" began his career as a volunteer fireman for the Eadytown Volunteer Fire Department at the age of sixteen. From there he became a volunteer for the Moncks Corner Volunteer Fire Department. After reaching the age of eighteen, he became a fireman first for the Old Fort Fire Department, then the Summerville Fire Department, and then the St. Andrews Fire Department. He was currently serving as the Captain of the Pine Ridge Fire Department and was employed as assistant engineer for the City of Charleston Fire Department.

Surviving are, his wife, Donna Windham French of Summerville; his mother of Moncks Corner; a daughter, Kyla Ann Nichole French of Summerville; a son, Aiden Michael Jennings French of Summerville; two sisters, Brandi D. Clark and Jean M. Dangerfield both of Moncks Corner; a brother, Michael L. Campbell of Eadytown; his grandfathers, Luther William Tarrance, Sr., of Interlachen, FL, and Noah French of Moncks Corner; and a special uncle, Marvin L. Campbell of Eadytown.
