POQUOSON - A. C. "Coby" Watkins, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2014. A native & lifelong resident of Poquoson, Coby retired from NASA in 1981. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Poquoson, and the Men's Bible Class; a WWII Army veteran; charter member of Poquoson American Legion Post 273; was active in many Poquoson civic & government committees; was treasurer for 17 years of the Poquoson Sports Boosters; a member of McDonald's Coffee Club; a former employee at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home; and loved the game of golf, especially playing in his Tuesday group.

Coby was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosa L. Watkins; second wife, Jane Little Watkins; sister, Betty Miller; and brother, Robert Watkins. He is survived by his son, Thomas C. Watkins (Norma); two daughters, Paulette Reed (Allan), and LuAnn Taylor (Bobby); sister, Virginia Blackwell; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, 7-8:30 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at his home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, 11:00 AM, at Trinity United Methodist Church by Rev. Charles R. Stacy, Rev. George T. Insley Jr., and Rev. H. Ben Topping Jr. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, with American Legion honors.
