A Charlottesville native, Branham was the former vice president of sales at Alpha Medical Inc., where he worked for 33 years. He was well known at area hospitals, physicians’ office and nursing homes, where, after making deliveries, he often lingered to visit elderly patients.
A 1973 graduate of Charlottesville’s Lane High School and a 1979 graduate of Lynchburg College, Branham served as a student representative on the President’s Council and was active in band, football and wrestling. In 1978, he won the ODAC Conference Championship in wrestling -- a prize that led to his work as a high school referee in the sport for 31 years.
An active Lynchburg College alumnus, Branham was a life-long member of First Baptist Church, where he formerly served on the Personnel Committee and played percussion in the orchestra. He also volunteered for many years with the Virginia March of Dimes and the Shelter for Help in Emergency in Charlottesville.
Additionally, Branham was a member of Charlottesville’s Municipal Band; a former secretary of the Charlottesville Republican Committee; a member and past Exalted Ruler at Elks Lodge #389; and a member and former president of the 19th Virginia Company B “The Albemarle Rifles” re-enactment group.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Lynnette Olinger Branham, of Charlottesville; his father, Milton Hawthorne Branham Sr., of Charlottesville; two sisters, Debra Grey Coffey, and her husband, Michael Coffey, of Dillwyn, and Sarah Louise Branham, of Staunton. He is predeceased by his mother, Betty Smith Branham; a sister, Betty Sue Branham; and a nephew, Nathanial Milton Coffey.

Ann Branham remembered her husband of eight and a half years Saturday as generous and unique.
"He was just totally devoted to his family and friends," she said. "The biggest compliment I ever got about myself was that he loved me."
Mr. Branham was fun loving and devoted to his roots, she said.
"He had a lifelong love of Ireland, and had an enormous number of friends there," she said. "I met a woman I had never met before who said she had met him several times, typically on St. Patrick's Day, and she said he always looked like the perfect leprechaun."
The funeral is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church on Park Street. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Lynchburg College, 1501 Lakeside Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
