Riek was born in The Netherlands on June 13, 1929, daughter of the late Wilhelmus and Theodora J. (Heymans)Wijvliet.
Riek was a simple lady who loved and adored her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her home with her husband. Reik loved to go shopping and traveling with Louis on his work trips. She also enjoyed knitting sweaters and scarves for many of her family and friends.
On November 13, 1956 she married Louis Luykx in Dussen, The Netherlands. The couple lived in Kiel their whole married life. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2015. They had one son, Peter Luykx , Sheboygan (companion, Wendy Wilfert of Madison), one granddaughter, Nicole (Nathan) Karpinsky & great granddaughter, Haylie Karpinsky of Charleston, SC.
She is further survived by two sisters, Antonia M. Couwenberg and Christina J. VanDelft and one brother, Joannes W. Wijtvliet, all from the Netherlands. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends in both the Netherlands and in America.
Preceded in death by her husband, Louis, three sisters, Ida, Antonia and Theodora and two brothers, Everdus and James A. Wijtvliet.
Per Riek's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service for her will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 5:30 PM at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel.
