Henry Cleveland Potter, son of Absalom Potter and his 2/w Lydia (Marks) Badgley, was born March 12, 1868 on the Potter Farm near Mesquite, Dallas County, Texas. Henry married Dortha Ann Jenkins, d/o James Taylor Jenkins and Damaris Coldiron, on June 15, 1896 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. Henry Potter was a pressed brick worker at the Ferris Brickyard, working in this occupation for twenty years until he retired in 1937.

WELL KNOWN CITIZEN PASSED AWAY TUES
Henry Potter, 72, well known pioneer of this section, passed away suddenly on Tuesday evening, May 31 (1938), at his home, one half mile from the place where he was born.
Mr. Potter engaged in farming and for many years worked at the Brick plant in Mesquite. He has been a familiar figure on the streets of Mesquite, where he has many friends. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Potter is survived by his wife; 3 sons, Mark, Louie, and Noah; 3 daughters, Mrs. Ruth Phillips, Mrs. Jennie Williams, and Mrs. Foy Roberson; and 10 grand-children.
Funeral services were held at the Potter home, Wednesday afternoon June 1, at 4:30 o'clock, with the Rev. F. M. Dean, officiating. Interment in Pleasant Mound Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Will Potter, Tom Potter, Charles Potter, Wallace Potter, Con Soules, C. J. Soules, Jr., Luther Allumbaugh, and Link Wall.
J. F. McCullough had charge of funeral arrangements.
