Claude Anthony Fonseca Sr., 76, a native of Larose and resident of
Houma, died at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral
time Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at
the funeral home, with burial in ST. Francis de Sales Cemetry No. 2.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Gautreaux Fonseca of Houma; five
sons, Ronald "Fon", Robert "Neggie", Larry, Eric, and Claude "Johnny"
Fonseca Jr., all of Houma; one daughter, Catherine "Cathy" Authement of
Houma; two sisters,, Nora Bonvillian and Rose Songe, both of Houma; 11
grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Eve Thibodeaux
Fonseca Sr.; seven brothers, Wilton, Jack, Mack, Paul, Sergen, Nolan and
Ellis Fonseca Jr.; and three sisters, Viola Kerner, Lucille Rebstock and
Edith Buquet Merritt.
He was a retired self-employed carpenter, a U.S. Army veteran of World
War II and a parishioner of Maria Immaculata Catholic Church.
