It was established and created by conveyance of 5 84/100 acres of land by Stephen and Mary Thompson McReynolds on September 21, 1880. Deed is filed and recorded in Denton County Courthouse, Denton, Texas - Deeds "Q", pg 103, June 27, 1881. When the Oak Grove Cemetery was established years later, many of the graves were moved to this cemetery approximately 1.5 miles North.
