Mary Ruth Holcomb Stone, 93, of Bassett, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at her home. She was born February 25, 1926, in Franklin County, Virginia, to the late Benjamin and Lonnie Starkey Holcomb. She loved NASCAR racing and was a Chase Elliott fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Newman W. Stone, Sr.; son, Michael Stone; brothers, Frank Holcomb, and Clyde Holcomb; and great-grandchildren, Luka and Malachi Akers.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Reeves, Nancy Wyatt (Larry); sons Newman Stone, Jr., and Tommy Stone; grandchildren, Travis Wyatt, Stacey Gregory, Charlie Fulcher, Sherri Woodall; step-grandson, Samuel Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Sara Fulcher, Brittany Billingsley, Andrew Fulcher, Austin Hopkins, George Gregory IV, Tiffany Gregory, Tyler Gregory, Tanner Stewart and Jakson Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 11:00 A. M., at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive visitors thirty minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
