Gary Brouwer age 92 of Montezuma, Iowa passed away peacefully Saturday evening at the Montezuma Specialty Care. As was his wish, his body has been cremated with burial in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.
Gary Hiram Brouwer was the son of Andrew and Antoinette Van Helten Brouwer. As a youth he attended Pleasant #7 and Montezuma schools. Gary served in the United States Army.
He was married to Nadine Johnson in 1950 in Grinnell, Iowa. To this union six children were born: Andrew, Kevin, Douglas, Kelly, Kimberly and Tina.
Gary was employed as a heavy equipment operator and farmer. He was a skilled mechanic and certified welder. He enjoyed working on old trucks and equipment.
In later years, he enjoyed spending winters in California and Texas.
Gary always had a dog as a companion and near his side.
