Bernard James Curran was born on Sunday; August 29, 1948, in Davenport; Scott County, Iowa but was raised in Aledo; Mercer County, Illinois. Bernard was the son of John and Lucille (Ryan) Curran. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Meyer on Saturday; September 5, 1970 in Bancroft; Kossuth County, Iowa. Bernie was a 1970 graduate of Saint Ambrose College and then attended Iowa State University where he graduated in 1974 from the College of Veterinary Medicine. Bernie was a founder and partner of Scott County Animal Hospital in Eldridge; Scott County, Iowa. He was an active member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church and numerous professional organizations. Bernie loved to work. His colleagues and clients were daily partners and some of his closest friends. He loved to fish and play golf, to work in his gardens, and at the end of the day to sit on his deck with the wind at his back. But above all he loved his family – his wife, his three boys, his grandsons. Spending time with them was his greatest joy. Bernard James Curran, age 58, passed away on Monday; June 18, 2007, at his home in Park View; Scott County, Iowa after an extended illness. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife: Mary Ann and their three sons: Chris (Sheri) Curran of Moline; Rock Island County, Illinois. Michael Curran of Rapid City; Pennington County, South Dakota and Jeff Curran of Park View, Iowa. Two grandsons: Benjamin and Ryan. His parents: John and Lucille Curran of Fort Wayne; Allen County, Indiana. Two sisters: Mary Pat (Dave) Nichols and Margaret (Bruce) Karr all of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Two brothers: John Curran of Saint Paul; Ramsey County, Minnesota and Dan (Fran) Curran of Bettendorf; Scott County, Iowa as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of friends. His grandparents preceded him in death. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday; June 20, 2007 at the Church where a Prayer Service will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Bernard will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday; June 21, 2007 at Saint Ann's Catholic Church in Long Grove; Scott County, Iowa. Burial will be in Saint Ann's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to GildaÂ's Club of the Quad Cities or American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) Scholarship Foundation.
