From his obituary:He was united in marriage to Miss Frona Burt on Sept 8,1893. To this union were born six children: Homer Lee, now in France, Vida Maud Shepherd of Colorado, Frances Edna, Lucille Eileen, Donald Earl and Leland Glenn all who were present at their fathers bedside except Homer and Vida. The deceased spent most of his life in or near Murray . He united with the Church of Christ at Leslie,Iowa in 1910. His father preceeded him to judgement 14 years ago. He leaves behind five brothers and three sisters. Frank Saffell of Murray, Allen M of Weldon, Lizzie Blacker of California, William E of Des Moines, Mae Jones of California, Manford D of Murray, Charles M of Des Moines and Alma Russell of Des Moines. His mother and brothers, Frank and Matt(Allen Mathias), were all of his family that was with him when the end came. .
