Would be interested to know if anyone has a record of this man serving in the military. Or is "Colonel" an honorary title only?

On February 18, 2024, Contributor #51152750 submitted the following: Regarding the moniker Colonel attached to Walter Henry Johnson, I know he was Lieutenant in the CSA [Unit? Dates? Service Record? I still don't have documentation of this] and after the war he was a mover and shaker in the state of Georgia. He was involved in politics was a tax collector appointed by President Harrison and a U S Marshall appointed by President McKinley and serving under Presidents Roosevelt and Taft. I suspect that he was called Colonel because he was the man in charge. Ronnie Adkins
