Patent trader - Thursday, May 19, 1966: - CROTON - Funeral services were held Wednesday for Joseph J. Dymes, 62, who died Sunday, at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Tarrytown after a long illness. Mr. Dymes, the husband of Anna Davitt Dymes, was owner of the Village Grocer in Croton for more than 30 years. He was born February 21, 1904 in Croton the son of the late Augustus and Rose Quinn Dymes. Mr. Dymes was a member of Knights of Columbus of Croton and former member of Croton Lions Club. Mr. Dymes leaves his wife; five sons, Joseph Kevin, David Michael, John Joseph, Richard Charles and Robert Francis, all of Croton; two daughters, Mrs. William Ann Marie Ryan of Ossining, and Mrs. Charles Rosemary Trendell of Miami; four brothers, Augustus and William of Croton, Robert of Tom's River, N.J., and Edward of Ossining; four sisters, Miss Mary Dymes of Point Lookout, L.I., Miss Rosana Dymes and Miss Charlotte Dymes, both of Croton and Mrs. William Kathleen Kelly of Ossining; and five grandchildren. Services were Wednesday morning from the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Croton. A high mass of requiem was offered at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Name of Mary in Croton. Burial was at Bethel Cemetery.
