Paymaster, 5th Regiment, New York State Militia. Of German birth, his family manufactured (and still continues to do so in New York City) world-famous pianos. He enlisted at New York City on 19 Apr 1861, was commissioned into the Field and Staff of the 5th Regiment, also known as the Jefferson Guard on 01 July 1861, and mustered out on 07 Aug 1861. He died of typhus fever at the family home in Brunswick, Germany.
