Lee Anna Clarice Hinderaker was born on a farm near Radcliffe, Iowa, on December 16, 1930. Growing up on the farm, she often told stories of driving the tractor and helping her father on the farm.
She graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1948. She married Maurice "Jens" Klatt on March 13, 1949, in Radcliffe and moved to Baker, Montana, near her sister-in-law, Darlene Klatt Martin. They returned to Radcliffe where Jens was manager of the local Farmers' Co-op Lumber Yard in Radcliffe, and where son David was born.
In 1959, they bought the Ames Lumber Company and moved to Ames, where son Jon was born.
Lee Anna assisted her mother in cooking at the Riverside Bible Camp in Story City and later became the head cook. She also volunteered babysitting at Bethesda Lutheran Church for various groups and later was asked to babysit for the group, as English is a Second Language, at various churches in Ames.
She enjoyed playing board games and cards and was an avid golfer (she even had a hole-in-one) all which she enjoyed with her friends. She enjoyed baking cookies, desserts, and Christmas candies.
Lee Anna had been living at Bickford Senior Living in Ames.
Surviving are her husband, Jens, who lives at Accura Care Center in Ames; sons David (Becky), and Jon, (Cris); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Barbara North in Atlanta, Georgia; sister-in-law, Maurine Hemphill in Ellsworth; and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Mae Hinderaker; brother, Charles Hinderaker; sister Bernella Tinsley; and granddaughter Michelle Klatt.
