Centerfield, Utah - Our kind and loving brother, uncle and cousin, Steve Joe Allred, age 70, died June 6, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born December 10, 1936, a son of Merrill Boden and Ludeen Sedonia Christensen Allred.

He was a member of the LDS Church. Steve lived in Centerfield, Utah, most of his life. He worked at the saw mill, the turkey plant and was a farm hand. Seven years ago, in 2000, he moved to Salina to live with Hyrum and Anita Thorsen. He collected aluminum cans around the valley to recyle. He was known as the Can Man, with Hyrum Thorsen.
After a brief illness and a diagnosis of cancer, Steve moved to Las Vegas to live with his niece, Linda and Harry Kern. He became very involved in the Lieburn Senior Citizen Center in Las Vegas. He was loved by all the residents there.

Steve is survived by a brother, Ray Allred of Texas; nieces and nephews: Linda and Harry Kern of Las Vegas, NV; Randy and Andrea Sorensen of Elko, NV; Karen and Mike Tidlund of Norco, CA; Lee R. and Janene Sorensen of Fairview.
He was preceded in death by is parents, and two sisters: Reba Maxine Christensen and Deena Allred.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Centerfield 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield
