Born to Lewis and Ophelia Leslie Welch in Kensett, Arkansas, she was a cook at Mississippi County Nursing Home. She loved reading, fishing, and canning vegetables from the garden and an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Mary was a member of the Assembly of God church in Prescott and was generous, hardworking and devoted to her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Smith; her parents; daughter Margaret Smith Ramsey; three brothers, Johnny Welch, Lewis Junior Welch and Bruce Welch; three sister, Grace Stevenson, Dorothy Trucks and Cecilia Ann Welch.
Mary is survived by her sister in law, Faye Welch of Blytheville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
