James A. Thorison Sr., age 74, of 3400 Yorkshire Lane, No. 111, Manitowoc, died on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at his residence.

James was born on Aug. 6, 1935, in Manitowoc, son of the late Clifford and Flora (Krohn) Thorison. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957. James married the former Patricia A. Cichantek in Yuma, Ariz., on Oct. 6, 1956. She preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2005.

Survivors included four children: James (Jess) Thorison Jr. and his wife Becky, Manitowoc; Debra Gauthier, Manitowoc; Patrick Thorison, Manitowoc; Darci Howarth and special friend Jeff, Manitowoc; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister: Shirley Martin, Illinois; four brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert (Helen) Cichantek, Manitowoc; Donald (Yvonne) Cichantek, Manitowoc; Nancy (David) Howell, Manitowoc; Ervin Kettner, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Patricia; one granddaughter: Becky Lynn Thorison; three brothers: Lyle and Eddie Thorison and Wes Champion; two sisters-in-law.

It was James' wish that no funeral services be held.

The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Holy Family Memorial Medical Center and Holy Family Memorial Hospice for the kind and compassionate care given to James. Special thanks to Judy you made Dad laugh and smile to the end. Thank You.
