One of nine siblings; 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

The family moved to Pleasant Plains, IL in 1921 and on to Rosebud, MT in 1928, where she graduated Valedictorian of her high school class in 1933.

She finished normal school and taught school one year before marrying Cliff Hayne in 1935 at Bozeman, MT. They moved to Washington in 1942, resided in Sumner 20 years and in Auburn about 30 years.

After raising her family, she resumed her education at PLU, obtaining a Master's of Education Degree in 1967. She taught grade school in Auburn until retiring.

She loved gardening, quilting, crossword puzzles and reading, especially her Bible.

She was active in civic affairs and church. She lived her faith daily.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Cliff in 1977 and her younger son, Alan (Randy) in 1995.
