Carl S. Kolp was born Febru­ary 1, 1907 at Brewster, Minn. On March 6, 1945 he married Olive Gerringer at Cherokee. He has worked on the Iowa State Highway maintanence crew for the past 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Janis at home and Ruth, Mrs. Harry Davis of Prim-ghar, one son, Earl at home, one sister, Mrs. Irene Barber of Stanfield, Ore., and two grandchil­dren.

Funeral services for Carl S Kolp. 62. of Paullina were held Tuesday afternoon, July 29 at ilhe Gaudian Funeral Home. Mr Kolp passed away July 25 at a Sioux Falls Hospital following a brief illness Officiating at thc services was, Carl Thiessen. Pallbearers were Loyd Stoffen, Malcolm rawer; Orlynn Strampe, Severn Towe, Gerald Willey and Ray Schmith A trio, composed of Juno Willert, Dorothy Willert and KarJj May sang two selections with Lorraine Rensink as organist. Arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian Funeral Home. Burial was in [West] Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina.Carl was the youngest of three children born to Charley Kolp and Lizzie Childs. Carl was born with an extra finger and the doctor removed it. His siblings were Irene and Earl. When Carl was almost 6 years old his brother fell of a buggy and died.

Carl lived most of his life in Paullina, Iowa. He was in the military from May 1942 to Dec. 1944. In 1945 at the age of 38 he married 21 year old Olive Geringer. they had three children: Ruth, Earl and Janis. Ruth and her baby daughter, Wendy, died after a car accident when Ruth was 28.

He did not get along with his own father, but did what ever Charley asked of him. Carl was an auto enthusiast like his father. His wife said Carl was a good father and was easy going. Carl died of a massive blood clot in his heart. His wife suspected it was caused by exposure to herbicides.
