US Congressman. A prominent banker and merchant in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he served in the United States Naval Reserves during World War I. He was elected as a Democrat to represent Pennsylvania’s 13th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving a single term from March 4, 1931 to March 3, 1933. He made an unsuccessful run to retain his Congressional seat, but was defeated by Congressman William E. Richardson. After returning to Allentown, he served in a number of Pennsylvania state offices, most notably as director of the Pennsylvania National Emergency Council from 1935 to 1941, where he was instrumental in the creation of Hickory Run State Park. He passes away in Allentown in 1960.
