Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette for Joseph "Bux" Donellan, age 84, who died on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Lafayette. Interment will be in Green Oaks Cemetery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Most Reverend Bishop Michael Jarrell will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Survivors include one son, and his wife of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; two daughters, (1) and her husband of Scott and (2) and her husband of Iota; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four sisters, two brothers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jeanne Sorrells Donellan and his parents, Joseph Patrick Donellan, Sr. and the former Mamie Clark; his sister, Monica Donellan; and his great-grandchild, Abigale Grace Morvant. Mr. Donellan was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on March 11, 1932 and was a resident of Lafayette. The many vacations Joseph's father took him on inspired his love of travel. His parents instilled in him a devout love for the Catholic religion culminating in his travel to Medjugorje. Joseph was employed by the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette as the resident printer. Joseph became a lay minister in order to spread his faith to other Deaf Catholics. He was a long time member of the local chapter of ICDA and enjoyed socializing with the Deaf community. He is beloved by all who have had the honor of being a friend or family member. He will be greatly missed. Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers (names have been removed to protect the living) . The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Tuesday July 26, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
