Mrs. Theresa Abraham (nee Kornze) was born to Steve and Theresa Kornze in Mohr, Hungary on October 6th, 1920 and was called Home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 1st, 2005 at the age of 84 years. She was predeceased by her father, Steve in 1941, her mother, Theresa in 1970 and two brothers; Frank on October 16th, 1972 and Steve on June 19th, 1987. Theresa will be lovingly remembered by her husband Leonard, her daughter, Shirley (Orlando) Floritto, granddaughter, Arlana (Arden) Powell and great-grandchildren; Alicia and Thomas, granddaughter, Arlena (Maris) Ceksters and great-grandchild, Sasha, her son, Sherman (Anne) Abraham, grandson, Darren (Sherri) Abraham and great-grandchildren; Justin and Tyler, granddaughter, Kim (Brian) Atamanchuk and great-grandchildren; Brennan and Caelan, granddaughter, Paula (Barry) Strachan and great-grandchildren; Jeremy and Sydni as well as many nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered and missed by all who knew her. Theresa married Leonard Abraham on June 25th, 1938 in Rutland, B.C. and soon after returned to Whitemouth, Manitoba where Leonard's family lived on a farm. Their daughter, Shirley was born there in the Abraham farm house on June 27th, 1939. They moved back to B.C. where they purchased a house with a small acreage. Theresa worked in the Fruit Packing House for a while. Their son, Sherman was born on September 27th, 1944 in the Kelowna General Hospital. During the later years, moves were made to Vancouver and Kamloops to follow her husband's work. While in Kamloops Theresa worked at the Whiteway Laundry, The Village Hotel and at the Tranquille T.B. Sanitorium. During their early retirement Theresa joined Leonard in raising exotic birds and chinchillas. Theresa enjoyed being a homemaker. She taught herself to knit and crochet and many crocheted items were given to her friends. She enjoyed preserving the food that her husband grew in his garden. Cooking and putting up a meal on short notice was never a problem for her. It seemed that she could make a meal out of nothing. Theresa loved music, dancing and having a good time with her friends. During her younger years, Theresa was active in her church as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Choir. In 1985, Theresa and Leonard moved to Vernon to spend their retirement years where their time was spent growing a lovely flower and vegetable garden. In April, 2000, both Theresa and Leonard moved to Noric House and in April, 2002, Theresa was moved to Polson Special Unit as her Alzheimer's had rapidly progressed. The Funeral Service will be held at Living Word Lutheran Church on Tuesday, August 9th, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Peter Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Theresa to the Alzheimer Society of B.C., #102 – 3402 – 27th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S1. Funeral arrangements have been made with BETHEL FUNERAL CHAPEL LTD., 5605 – 27th Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 8Z5 (1-250-542-1187).
