Mrs. Kling, 96, of LeRoy, died Saturday (June 23, 2007) at Grand Meadow Health Care Center, where she had resided since Oct. 1, 1999.
Laura Maas was born Nov. 19, 1911, in Hoskins, Wayne County, Neb. She attended school through eighth grade at District 55 in Wayne County. On Sept. 3, 1932, she married John Elmer Kling in O'Neil, Neb.; they had one son, Virgil. They farmed near Hoskins until moving to St. James, Minn., in 1943. In 1950, they moved to LeRoy. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. She enjoyed gardening and canning fruits and vegetables for her family. Later in life, she loved working in her flower garden and crocheting.
She is survived by two grandchildren; two sisters, Nora Lambrecht of Laurel, Neb., and Mary Ann Heckman of Norfolk, Neb.; and a brother, Raymond (Lois) Maas of Hoskins. Other survivors include a daughter-in-law, Norma Kling of LeRoy. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 2, 1991; a son; seven brothers; and three sisters.
Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
