She was born Mary Rose Conklin on March 28, 1919 in Cedarville, California to John R. and Rose L. Conklin. Mrs. Carter was a life-long resident of Surprise Valley and was reared on the family farm and attended Surprise Valley schools. She worked at the Surprise Valley Hospital nearly 20 years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
She married Louie Blodgett and two children were born to their union. Louie preceded her in death. She later married Oliver Carter, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her son, her daughter, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brothers Gilbert and Milo Conklin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
