Oswald George Meatyard was born in 1838 in Middlesex to William & Maria Meatyard née Shelton. He married Emma Maria Rutland on 15 September 1864 in Chelsea, Middlesex. They had three children in 12 years. On the 1871 census he is living at Audnam Cottage next to the Boulton & Mills Crystal Glassworks for whom he was employed as a "commercial traveller, glass". In 1881 he was promoted to Works Manager. On the 1891 and 1901 censuses his occupation is shown as "Glass Manufacturer, Employer". He died on 4 May 1906 in Audnam, Staffordshire at the age of 68 and was buried at Holy Trinity Church (where he was a Church Warden) on the 8th of May 1906.
