One of at least eight children born to Gold/Golden Brown and Annie "Fannie" Travis.
James Brown was born about June 15 1883 (as compiled between the 1920 census and his death certificate). He married Ethel Hamilton about 1910 and had two known children with her, Dorothy and James. He was self employed as a florist.
At the time of his death he was divorced, living at 971 E Pulaski. He died from cerebral hemorrhage. His daughter signed his death certificate as Dorothy Haswell.
