The probate papers dated June 19, 1883 which were filed by William H Hashert in Van Zandt County for guardianship of his three sons said the boys mother, Nancy A McHugh (McCue) Hashert, had abandoned the family in July of 1876. It appears he may have been a few months off since George wasn't born until August. The papers did refer to the boys as infants. William stated in the probate papers "the bonds of matrimony" were dissolved November 1879 in Van Zandt County. No record of divorce could be found in Van Zandt County. However, information was found in The Albany Echo, September 15, 1883, under the Civil Docket report for W H Hashert and Nancy Hashert a case of divorce.

Albert had been partners with Dock Dickerson in D & H Grocery & Market located in Grand Saline when he sold his interest to Dock Dickerson and sons, Jerry and Terry in 1949.
