Sidney Edgar Giles was the son of James S. "Tollie" and Martha C. (Gray) Giles. He died of tuberculosis on February 8, 1932 at Fort Whipple Veteran's Hospital. Sidney was a patient there for two months prior to his death. After his father died, his mother, Martha C. (Gray) Giles, married William F. "Will" Ball in 1901 in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Sidney had two "full" siblings: Willie Elizabeth Giles and Marion Harvey Giles. His three half-siblings were Benjamin David "Bennie" Ball, Stella Ball, and Fred Fielden Ball.
