John Francis Adam Sr. married Maria "Mary" Heuser, daughter of Maragartaha (Feiling and Christipher "Christian" Heuser on January 1, 1883 in Harrison County, Indiana. The license was not filled showing who married them The witness and clerk was William Ridley. Her name is Mary on the license, but she said it was Marie in German. Mary was born January 8, 1858 or 9 in Mobile, Alabama. She was reared by her aunt, Elizabeth in Louisville, Kentucky. Mary's grandparents were Catherine and Jost Heuser of Hesse Darmstadt, who also immigrated to the United States. The grandparents are both buried in the he Reformed St. Pauls Cemetery. They lived near the Adam families and members of this family came about the same time to the same section of Jackson Township.

They lived in Harrison County, Indiana, first at his parents home west of New Salisbury, then at other locations near New Salisbury.

John died at his home, April 10, 1925. His funeral was Sunday, April 12, at 2 P.M. at Hursttown Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Maria and her son George then lived in a small house on the southeast corner of her son, John's farm until she no longer was able to care for herself. Then she lived with the other sons a few months at a time. She died December 22, 1936 at John's home near Byrneville, Indiana. Her funeral was at the Hursttown Church and she was laid to rest in the church cemetery.

To them 6 children were born in Harrison County.
