JAY STIEFVATER
(1953 - 2014)

Jay Stiefvater, 60, Manitowoc, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, with his loving family by his side, following a courageous battle with kidney cancer.

He was born on September 7, 1953, in Manitowoc, the son of the late Anton and Aurelia (Schneider) Stiefvater. On November 3, 1972, Jay was united in marriage to Katherine Evenson in Valders, Wisconsin. Together they raised four beautiful children. For over 42 years, Jay worked at Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry as a casting inspector. In his spare time, Jay loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and was an avid Wisconsin sports fan. Most of all he valued the moments spent watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events and always taking time for his family and friends.

Jay is survived by his wife of 42 years: Kathy, four children, Becky (Kyle) Fochs, Erin (Derick) Wilson, TJ (Kristy) Stiefvater and Brad Stiefvater; five grandchildren, Kade and Aiden Fochs, Jacob Wilson, and Gray and Evvie Stiefvater; five siblings, Luann (Lyle) Schwoerer, Jim (Bonnie) Stiefvater, Linda (Dennis) Bowe, Lori (Rodney) Schnell and Lyneen (Ische) Fischer; his mother-in-law, Melissa Evenson; five in-laws, Jackie (Mike) Shimek, Andy Evenson, Beth (Ken) Popp, Ginny (Steve) Schwoerer and Greg (Kristie) Evenson; and a dear friend and co-worker: Dean (Diane) Ebert. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jay was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Ralph Evenson.

Per Jay's wishes, a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Jay to the UW-Carbone Cancer Clinic Genitourinary Fund, 600 Highland Ave., K4/658, Madison, WI 53792-6164.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at UW-Hospital for all their care and compassion given to Jay and our family, to Lyneen for her countless hours spent with Jay at all his doctor's visits and to the many family and friends that supported us through such a difficult time.
