Robert J. Frank, age 89 of 1602 Miriam Road, Manitowoc, died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Robert was born on April 21, 1923 in Hartford, son of the late Theodore and Catherine (Rohlinger) Frank. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 thru 1946 where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart and Air Medal. On February 6, 1954 he married the former Rita A. Nicholson in Hartford, WI. Robert was employed at the Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry until his retirement. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Hartford City Band, and the Dixie Dads Band. He was also a volunteer at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. He enjoyed music, computers, traveling, and building models.
Robert is survived by his wife: Rita A. Frank, Manitowoc; four children: Terri Kannel, Eau Claire; Bobbi (Bruce) Dautermann, Hartford; Patti Frank, Hartford; Kathi Frank, New Zealand; six grandchildren: Amanda (Cory) Tavs; Koa Dautermann; Luke , Anne, and Christa Kannel; Nick Frank; two great grandchildren: Aydan Dautermann; Aria Tavs; one brother-in-law: Maurice Leverance, Slinger; other relatives and friends also survive. He is preceded in death by his son: Joel Frank; one daughter: Anne Frank; one sister: Jeanette Leverance; one brother: Ervin Frank; one son-in-law: John Kannel.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St Francis of Assisi - Waldo Site, North 14th Street and Waldo Boulevard, Manitowoc, Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Military services will be accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post #659. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 11:00 a.m.
