Young Man Dies in Auto Accident —

Lynn Wayne Acklen, 23, of Winchester was dead on arrival at Franklin County Hospital after his car struck a tree at 9:20 PM Saturday.

Mr. Acklen was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William D. Acklen of Winchester, and a surveyor with Stewart Mapping Company.

Mr. Acklen was a 1968 graduate of Franklin County High School and a 1971 graduate of Motlow State Community College. He had been employed for two and a half years by Stewart Mapping Company and was assistant manager of the firm’s Birmingham office at the time of his death.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Winchester.

Services for Mr. Acklen were at 1 PM Monday at Watson Funeral Home with the Rev. J. E. Wolfe officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Lynn Ballew, Eddie Patton, Billy Marlow, Steve Davidson, Jack Collins, and Keith Johnson.

He is survived by his parents; one sister, Miss Kathy Acklen; one brother, Tony Acklen; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Dorothy Acklen; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Zimmerman, all of Winchester.
