Edmund Eugene "Gene" Fitch, Age 76, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
He was born August 4, 1942 in Clifty, Arkansas, the son of John and Daisy (Calico) Fitch.
Gene was known for his amiable and compassionate warmth that he extended to everyone he met. He had three favorite sons and a favorite daughter as well as three favorite daughters-in-law and a favorite son-in-law. He even had a favorite wife that stood by his side for 58 years. He loved spending time with his favorites - at home, going to Razorback games and the casino. His grandchildren were the light of his life. His smile and sense of humor will be missed. We will always love you.
Gene retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Carmelita.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Patricia Fitch; three sons, Gene Fitch Jr. and his wife Jana of Richardson, Texas, Michael Fitch and his wife Karyn of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and Kenneth Fitch and wife Lauren of Rogers, Arkansas; one daughter Cheryl Helms and her husband Steve of Rogers, Arkansas; one brother Jerry Wasserman and his wife Ginger of California; two sisters Shirley Hausafus and her husband Bob of California and Faye Clark and her husband Paul of Virginia; eighteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, July 18th, 2019, at National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
