Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Inez Hicks, 92, of Clarinda, will be at
2p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Hunter officiating.
Mrs. Hicks died Tuesday morning at the home of Mrs. Katherine Shields
where she had been cared for the past 16 months.
Mrs. Hicks was born Aug. 28, 1885 in Lynn Co., Iowa, the daughter of Alanzo
and Emma Ede Seavey.
She was married to Rufus M. Hicks who preceded her in death in 1940.
In recent years she had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Carper of Clarinda until Mrs. Carper's death. Then she lived
with another daughter Mrs. Beulah Hutchings until going to the home of
Mrs. Shields.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by five children: Mrs. Fariba White, Norfolk, Nebr., Mrs.
Beulah Hutchings, Clarinda, Hamar Hicks, Pueblo, Colo., Dale Hicks, Fayetteville,
Ark., and Claire Hicks, Tucson, Aria. There are 12 grandchildren and several
great grandchildren.
There are 4 daughters-in-law and one son-in-law.
She was preceded in death by three daughters and one son: Cornelia Pella,
Orpha Hicks who died in childhood, Dorothy Carper and Delbert Hicks.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery east of Clarinda.
