Aaron Benton Boyd was the son of Elliot C. Boyd and Sarah Counts. He married Ellen Josephine Govreau December 6, 1872 in Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri. Ellen and Aaron had 9 children; Joseph Ignatius, Amelia Sara, Anna Elizabeth, Louis Elliot, Ida Mary, Laura Josephine, Aaron Augustine, Nicholas Anthony and Genevieve.
