Robert was the son of Joseph and Ruth Nunn and was born in Catton Norfolk. He was baptised on 24th September 1828. His father died when he was young, and his mother moved to Sprowston where she worked as a charwoman. By 1851 he had moved to Cambridge and was living on Peas Hill working as a porter for cheesemonger Henry Marshall. After marrying Louisa Coleman in 1852 he continued working as a cheesemongers assistant [1851 – at least 1881]. On the 1891 census he is recorded as living at 2 St Edward’s Passage but was working as a sexton. He died aged 67 years, leaving effects of £131 13s and 6d.
