H. M. Hawkins, 81, Dies; Was Silver Spring Builder
Henry M. Hawkins, 81, retired Silver Spring builder, died yesterday in Memorial Hospital, Cumberbland, Md., after a brief illness.
He was born in La Plata, Md., and came to Silver Spring 28 years ago. He lived there with a daughter, Mrs. J.H. Stauffer, 733 Easley street.
Mr. Hawkins was a member of Silver Spring Masonic Lodge and was a charter member of the Box Bible Class, Emory Methodist Church, Brightwood. He also belonged to Grace Episcopal Church, Silver Spring.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Stauffer and Mrs. Charles Levering, La Plata, and three brothers, Dr. A.H. Hawkins, Cumberland, who was caring for him at the time of his death, and Walter Hawkins and Charles W. Hawkins, both of Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Warner E. Pumphrey funeral home, 8434 Georgia avenue, Silver Spring. Burial will be in Forest Oak Cemetery, Gaithersburg, Md.
