On Saturday, July 20, 2019, Mrs. Billie Ann Edwards Richardson, loving wife of Dr. Samuel Milton Richardson and mother of their two children, passed away at the age of 77 while at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Zion Presbyterian Church, 2322 Zion Road, Columbia Tennessee with Pastor Paul Joiner officiating. Burial immediately following. Pallbearers will be Frederick Conrad, William Courter, Benjamin Wright, Robert Grefseng, Michael Richardson and Justin Lindsey. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday, July 23 at Heritage Funeral Home 609 Bear Creek Pike, Columbia.
Billie was born on January 1, 1942 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to William Taylor Edwards and Lillie Jewel Highfield Edwards.
She studied Music and English at Louisiana State University (LSU) where she also played flute and piccolo in the LSU Marching Golden Band from Tigerland. Billie received her Bachelors of Science and Masters degrees from University of Mobile.
Billie married Dr. Samuel Milton Richardson III on January 9, 1962. They raised a daughter, Elizabeth Gayle Richardson Custer (Bryce) and a son, Samuel Milton Richardson IV (Angie). Billie was passionate about music, decorating, gardening, collecting antiques and entertaining. She was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church and Master Gardener Society.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband: Dr. Samuel Milton Richardson III, her children: Elizabeth Richardson Custer (Bryce) and Samuel Milton Richardson IV (Angie), her brother: Robert Edwards, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
