Violet Pfefferkorn, age 93, a resident of Wisteria Haus, Two Rivers, died Friday December 1, 2017 at the home.

She was born on May 22, 1924, daughter of the late Eric A. and Mamie (Pravechek) Carlson. Violet was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers class of 1942. On August 14, 1948, she married William F. Pfefferkorn at Emanuel United Methodist Church in Two Rivers, WI. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2005. Violet was employed as a deputy treasurer for Manitowoc County during World War II and a bank clerk at the Two Rivers Savings Bank before retirement in 1986. In high school, Violet was a Candy Striper. She was very active in the church. Violet sang in the church choir, was a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. Violet and her mother were the founding members of the Two Rivers Garden Club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting for the children. Violet was always up for an adventure. She camped often in Peninsula State Park before buying land south of Egg Harbor and building a cottage. Violet started cross country skiing at the age of 40 and took first place in the Mini Birkebeiner at Point Beach. She also enjoyed going on many bike rides and sailing/boating with family. Violet was a supporter of the fine arts, taking her children to Mr. K's Children Theater, Masquer's Theater, Manitowoc Civic Music, Audubon Films and bird watching.

Survivors include one son: William Pfefferkorn, Egg Harbor; two daughters and one son-in-law: Kathryn Hainstock, Burlington, Sara Pfefferkorn and Stephen Lesperance, Mishicot; one granddaughter: Elizabeth (Christopher) Fait, Lake Geneva; one grandson: Jonathan (Grace) Hainstock, Burlington; great grandchildren: Ava, Samuel, Ji-a, Henry and William Fait; June, Evelyn, and Charlie Hainstock; and one sister-in-law: Marian Hopf, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by one son-in-law: Paul Hainstock; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Robert and Delores Pfefferkorn; and one brother-in-law: John Hopf.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Lakeshore United Methodist Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will Rev. Carly Kuntz. Cremation has occurred at All Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Violet will be laid to rest at a late date.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Lakeshore United Methodist Church, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
