William Pfefferkorn, 81, of 1724 30th St., Two Rivers, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at the Manitowoc County Healthcare Center, Manitowoc.

Bill was born on March 30,1924, in Manitowoc Rapids to Arnold and Anna (Roethel) Pfefferkorn. He attended school in Manitowoc Rapids and at Woodrow Wilson Junior High before graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1941. After high school he began his career as a farmer and then worked at the Kerscher Company as well as Manitowoc Shipbuilding. On Aug. 14, 1948, he married the former Violet Carlson at the Methodist Church in Two Rivers. Bill then began working for his father-in-law at Carlson Mobil before eventually assuming ownership of that business and running it as Bill's Mobil Super Service on the corner of 21st and Washington streets in Two Rivers. He also worked for Kahlenberg Manufacturing for many years until he retired in 1986. Bill enjoyed bow and rifle deer hunting and fishing and had a love of the outdoors. He and his wife spent time biking, hiking, boating and cross-country skiing. Bill was a devoted member of Emanuel United Methodist Church in Two Rivers and was active in the choir and as a trustee. He also loved to sing. Bill was a member for many years of the Two Rivers Barbershoppers and later the Clipper City Chordsmen. He was a former member of the Two Rivers Masonic Lodge and a member of the Two Rivers Elks Club where he was an officer for three terms.

Survivors include his wife, Violet; one son, William Pfefferkorn Jr., Egg Harbor; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn (Paul) Hainstock, Burlington; Sara (Stephen) Lesperance, Mishicot; two grandchildren, Elizabeth (Christopher) Fait, Jonathan Hainstock, Burlington; one brother, Robert Pfefferkorn, Manitowoc; one sister and brother-in-law, Marion (John) Hopf, Manitowoc. He is further survived by an expected great-grandchild as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eric and Mae Carlson, and a sister-in-law, Dolores Pfefferkorn.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Emanuel United Methodist Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the memorial service will be the Rev. Sonia Alvarado. Cremation has occurred and burial of the remains will take place at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Two Rivers, is assisting with funeral arrangements.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff Manitowoc County Healthcare Center for the love and tender care they extended to Bill. Bill greatly loved his family as they loved him. He will be dearly missed. God blessed us with Bill's presence.
