YOUNG BOY DROWNED
The Manitowoc River claimed another youthful victim, one of a long list that has accumulated as the years go by, when John Shaw, eight-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Shaw of 1004 Huron street, fell off the dock at the Soo Line wharf above Tenth street Sunday afternoon. The lad had gone with a brother fourteen years old and some other companions to watch the unloading of a steamer. The other boys did not observe how John happened to fall in but they saw his peril and called for help as they were unable to reach him. Policemen, the boy’s father and others soon arrived and recovered the body with drag hooks after it had been in the water about twenty minutes. He was beyond aid. The youngster was a pupil at the McKinley school and is said to have been a likeable little fellow.
He is survived by his parents, a brother and three sisters, the youngest a month old.
