Raymond Lee Stevens, 50, of Raven, VA, died Thursday, May 7, 1981 in a Princeton hospital after a long illness. He was a member of the Levisa Assembly of God Church and was a disabled coal miner.

Born in 1931 in Buchanan County, VA, he was the son of the late King Stevens (1882-1958) and Pearl Cook-Stevens (1889-1965). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Stevens-Crabtree (1912–1941).

Survivors include his wife, Judy Garlene Rose-Stevens (1945-1982); three sisters, Verda Stevens-Cutler (1908-2005) of Mathews, NC, Elsie Stevens-Musick (1915-2005) of Honaker, VA, and Mary "Magaline" Stevens-Barton (1934-1999) of Council, VA; five brothers, Earl Stevens of Pikeville, KY, Dewey Stevens of Ossley, KY, Clayton Stevens of Grundy, VA, Glen W. Stevens (1917-1988), and Barnes "Bernard" Stevens (1924-1982), both of Council; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Buchanan County Funeral Home at Keen Mountain, VA, with Rev. Jessie Miller and Rev. Ancil Childress officiating. Burial will be in Ball Cemetery at Road Ridge.
