Mary Ann Schatz, 74, of Kankakee passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Mary was born July 13, 1945 in Kankakee, the daughter of Arthur W. and Mabel I. (Emme) Schatz and they preceded her in death along with one niece, Rebecca Schatz.
She is survived by one sister, Betty Schatz of Kankakee; one brother, William (Patricia) Schatz of Kankakee; and one niece, Julie E. (David) Belan of Romeoville, IL.

Ms. Schatz was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clifton. She worked at Mound Grove Cemetery, Greater Kankakee Airport, and retired from the Kankakee Daily Journal in Human Resources. She loved traveling, flower gardening, and researching family history and genealogy.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Clifton. Rev. Ray Bowers will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chebanse.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton as well as one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at church.

Memorials may be made to Willie and Friends Relay for Life Team, Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Community Foundation of Kankakee County Rebecca Schatz Memorial Fund, or donor’s choice.
