Billy L. Brewer, 82, owner of the Furniture Center & Casual Shop, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at a local nursing home. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the First Baptist Church in Valley Mills. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. at Waco Memorial Park under the direction of Foss Funeral Home.

Bill was born in Tennessee to the late Robert Lee and Willie Jane (Martin) Brewer. Bill moved to Covington, Texas, early in life and was a graduate of Hill Junior College. Bill was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.

He married Mary Lightfoot on June 13, 1948, in Meridian. Bill enjoyed family and friends. He was a part-time rancher, farmer and enjoyed hunting. He was a member of the Valley Mills First Baptist Church and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Edmond Brewer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Valley Mills; son, Robert Brewer, of Waco; grandchildren, Tess and Billy; and great-grandchildren, Casey and Jessica.
