She attended Thomas Jefferson High School and retired from Campbell Soup in Omaha in 1995. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, birds, traveling, and collecting things: rocks, cream/sugar bowls, plates, Precious Moments, and birds. She babysat many of her nieces and nephews and was known to them as Aunt Pid.
