James D. Shellenbarger, 39, of Barnhart Street, Monroeville, died at 2:50 p.m. on Friday, June 29th, at the Emergency Room at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he had been taken a short time earlier after being stricken at work.
Mr. Shellenbarger was born August 6, 1944 in Allen County to Raymond T. and Mary M. (DeClercq) Shellenbarger. He had been a resident of the Monroeville area all of his life. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. He had been employed at the Eagle-Picher Industries Company in Grabill for over 18 years, as a Fork Lift operator.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 420, Monroeville and also a member of the Convoy, Ohio Fox Hunters Club.
Surviving are two sons, James D. (Jamie) Shellenbarger II, and John A. Shellenbarger both of Monroeville, his parents, Raymond T. (Buss) and Mary M. Shellenbarger, one daughter, Pamela Moor of Monroeville and one granddaughter, Ashleigh Moor, also of Monroeville. There are two brothers, Rex A. Shellenbarger and Rodger L. Shellenbarger, both of Monroeville and two sisters, Mrs Jerry (Kay L.) Reuille and Mrs. Rick (Patsy J.) Frasure, both of Monroeville.
Visitation was held on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Marquart & Jacobs Funeral Home, Monroeville where funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2nd, with the Rev. Joseph Pottenger officiating. Military graveside services were conducted by Legion Post N. 420. Burial was in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Parker, Jerry Reuille, Rick Frasure, Rodney Shoaf, Keith Stephenson & George Edwards.
